It's the Ides of March luncheon! Instead of learning about the ancient
history of March 15th, come learn about the history of Camden County at
the Camden County Museum, located at 206 S. Locust St. in Linn Creek.

The Historical Society runs this museum with volunteers and no tax
dollars. They will be providing lunch with side dishes of education and
humor! Lunch will include salad, chicken stroganoff in crepes, copper
pennies (carrot slices with a glaze), and lemon dessert.

We will learn about the various programs the museum provides. You can
also take a self-guided tour of the museum. Remember how interesting
history was in school? Neither do I! Instead of dry facts, humorous tales of
the county will be our entertaining lesson.

Luncheon and tour is $20 payable at the door.

Reservations or cancellations must be made no later than 6pm on the
Sunday, March 11.   For reservations contact Claudia Thomas at
Newcomers/Longtimers is an organization composed of
women from all over the lake region with a membership
averaging  approximately 250 women. There are many fun
activities that have been added to our calendar that will
allow you to meet and interact with other members.

We are not only a social organization but a charitable one as
well. Our annual home tour is our biggest undertaking. The
money raised is given back to local lake charities and awarded
as scholarships to students attending local colleges and
technical schools.

Please come and join us. We look forward to meeting you and
introducing you to other women who may become your
lifelong friends.

Mark your calendar for the Newcomers/Longtimers 24th Home Tour to be
held on Saturday, May 19 in Porto Cima & The Villages.  Since its inception,
the annual Home Tour has raised more than $275,000 for local charities and
scholarships. The proceeds from this year’s tour will benefit both Kids
Harbor and S.A.R.T. (sexual assault response team) out of Lake Regional as
both organizations work cooperatively.   Scholarships will be awarded to
adult students looking to return to the work force at the Lake Career and
Technical Center in Camdenton.

This year’s tour is slightly larger than in recent years with six of the lakes
most premier homes to be included in the tour.  The tour begins at the Porto
Cima Yacht Club which serves as the home tour headquarters.  There will be
signs to guide you to the clubhouse and throughout the tour.  Each person
holding a ticket will receive a tour book and wristband which will allow
them admittance to the houses on the tour.  Will call tickets and additional
tickets can also be picked up or purchased at headquarters.  Tickets will not
be available for sale at the individual homes on the tour.

For those who have already purchased a ticket there will be an express lane
that you can drive through for your booklet and wristband.  The tour will
begin at 10 am and end promptly at 4pm.

Advance tickets are $20 and the day of the tour they will be $25.  You may
purchase tickets in advance of the home tour at the following locations:
